WYTHALL WORKS

The period since the last news of work on the Museum site has been dominated by snow and cold. Many volunteers sensibly went in to hibernation but some jobs did get done. Although the staff toilets did freeze up for a while, preventative action means there is not any permanent damage.

Work has continued on clearing the one side of the Shire Hall. Various items have been moved by Pete and Alex using the Matador and then Eddie and Lloyd stripped several units down to make the component parts easier to store. To this end Bob has continued to adapt the Daimler CVD6 chassis so that many axles can be stored on it.

Over Christmas the S6 stored on the northern side of the Shire Hall was briefly moved out to allow some reorganisation of the engines and axles stored there. This is all making the area look much tidier and Maurice is improving things even further by excavating the concrete path which many did not even know existed and which runs through the area. Also in this area, Mike Jordan had done some work to make the S6 and the two D9s used for storage more watertight.

The work in the audio visual room in the Power Hall has continued. Leo has completed the move of the screen and some electrical wiring has been moved to allow the new display case to be fitted. This display case has been ordered from the same firm who fitted out for the rest of the Power Hall exhibition although the timing of its delivery is not known at the time of writing.
