The 1685 Group's Midland Red LD8 Leyland PD2 4031 continues to approach completion with further work on the lower saloon interior and wiring. Lino is ready to be laid and oak floor treads are being prepared. Off-site, the nightmare of the rotted platform doors is being tackled.
Some of those gazing at the immaculate exterior may have wondered why it didn't look quite right. The cynical would explain that the shine and lack of dents is not correct for a Digbeth bus. Actually it was the front wings. They curved in at the front edge, rather more elegantly than the style enclosed radiator Leylands actually carried. The Group engaged weldmaster John Arnold to rectify the wings and now they look as they should!
