FLEETLINE FOCUS

NOB 413M – Bristol VRT/MCW
WMPTE 4413
(James Munro)

4413 was submitted for a successful Class V Test in early March. Prior to submission the nearside rear spring was found to have a crack in one of the leaves. The offending leaf was therefore removed and replaced. An air leak by the brake light switch was also detected and rectified. The front brakes required adjustment, and the upstairs emergency buzzer was replaced. The air wipers were adjusted and the screen wash jets were renewed. The differential pinion seal has since been attended to also, along with another minor oil leak. Thanks are expressed to Mark Priest, Dave Parry and Kevin Hill for their assistance.

(4613 Group)

Work has been carried out on the nearside wheelarch area during the winter months, where the panel fixing had come adrift. The tax disc display holder has also been replaced, as a result of the previous one fracturing.

Travel West Midlands 6898
(Andy Walcott)

During the closed season 6898 received minor mechanical attention, prior to a successful submission for Class V Test in late November 2006. A small amount of bodywork around the offside wheel and nearside lower stress panel was required. The troublesome air wipers were also attended to.

WDA 835T – MCW Metrobus Mk1
WMPTE 6835
(BaMMOT)

During the winter months work has continued on the Museum’s newest vehicle, now of some twenty nine year vintage. The rear lower deck window was refitted, as were some of the adjacent panel strips. A number of the interior melamine panels were removed in order for Dave Parry to commence replacement of the nearside stress panels, and repair main sections of the perimeter frame. Once Dave has concluded this task the panelling around this area, both inner and outer can be replaced. It is hoped that work will continue at a reasonable pace to allow 6835 to be a presentable condition for its 30th birthday.

WDA 956T – Leyland Fleetline/MCW-WMT single deck conversion
West Midlands Travel 1956
(Martin Lowry)

1956 was on site during March in readiness for the annual test. Both main air tanks were replaced, as the others had developed a rather air cooled appearance! The offside wiper motor was also replaced and the screen wash pipes cleaned. The rear brakes were adjusted and the engine was treated to a pressure wash. 1956 was submitted for a successful test in late March.
