Vehicle Progress

O9926 - Tilling-Stevens TTA2 - Birmingham 26
The panel beading has now been completed on the nearside front and rear and has been undercoated ready for top-coating in due course. Meanwhile Maurice Collignon has been progressing the cleaning/scraping of the rear axle for eventual painting. All the spare BMMO seat cushions have been moved off the top deck and are now stored in the Stratford Blue double-decker, and the lower deck has been cleared of all items not connected with 26. - Bob Williamson

871KHA - BMMO D9 - Midland Red 4871
The staircase and platform area (including the folding doors) have been cleaned, primed where necessary and undercoated throughout ready for top-coating very shortly. A start has also been made on refurbishing all the seat frames and, as all the top rails are to be re-chromed, every seatback will have to be removed, which involves the removal of four screws, two bolts and four steel rivets! Phil Ireland has kindly made five new seat floorbolts, to replace those that sheared off during removal. These are now painted ready for fitting. Also stripped and repainted are five sections of exterior panel beading. - Bob Williamson

FJW616 - Sunbeam F4 - Wolverhampton 616
Peter Murphy and Paul Gray are working on the trolleybus.

SUK3 - Guy Arab IV - Wolverhampton 3
Geoff Hodkinson and Leo Coley have replaced the lower deck floorboards and are repainting the interior of the former playbus. At one stage there was a power cut, but the pair of them carried on painting without lighting. The two Wolverhampton buses are being treated to 'cosmetic' restoration work, ready for being displayed in the Power Hall.

SHA431 - Leyland Titan PD2/12 - Midland Red 4031
John James and Malcolm Keeley have refitted the waist rail mouldings to the LD8.

UHA956H - BMMO S23 - Midland Red 5956
Dave Parry has rebuilt the front nearside wheel hub of the S23. Its rear brake problems have since been cured, too

XDH56G - Daimler CRC6-36 - Walsall 56
Dave Taylor's Megadekka-before-its-time was driven - yes, the Cummins V6 does work - from the Shire Hall to the Scania Hall just before the building work commenced. There it received a full repaint by Kevin Hill. Dave has now re-installed the rear registration glass
