ENGINEERING ENDEAVOURS

0 9926 - Tilling Stevens TTA2
(Birmingham 26)

The offside panelling has now been fixed by Peter Murphy and the gap filled. You can't see the join! One topcoat has been applied although this will be flatted and another coat applied in due course. The bottom edge beading was cut by Peter and this is now painted and fixed. Beading is to be cut for the small front and rear panels and cream topcoat will then be applied.

871KHA - BMMO D9
(BMMO/West Midlands PTE 4871)

Sterling work has been carried out by Geoff Hodkinson on the front end, with several small bodywork repairs completed. The remainder has been sanded flat for painting. Many yards of floor treads for the upper deck have been cut and routed out by Pete Murphy and the whole lot has been given five coats of paint. A final topcoat will be applied when fitted to the floor - in fact the whole floor will be painted at the same time.

802MHW - Bristol Lodekka FSF6G / ECW
(Cheltenham & District)

John Townshend has recently prepared the Cheltenham Lodekka for the first Class VI test we have taken it for (the previous one was organised by Stagecoach). The bus passed and was therefore available for Two Museums Day. The driver on that day reported the gear change getting more difficult throughout the day. Fortunately this turned out to be a loose plate, which was easily fixed.

Other work on the engineering front has included preparation of both the S15 and 2976 - by Dave Parry and Dick Lolley respectively - for test in June. The latter is to be treated to two new cross-ply tyres on the front.
