GARDENERS NOT GARDNERS
Alongside the usual good works, the gardeners were busy improving the grounds in 2003. Heading the credits here, as usual, is Dennis Herbert, tirelessly keeping on top of the grass and accompanied by several of his EMES railway colleagues as required. Malcolm Keeley added to the planting with more bushes near the pay area where he is creating a boundary to the garden in which the AA box will sit. Elaine James also donated plants to this future garden. Malcolm also planted a couple of trees donated by Pete Murphy and intended to soften the view seen by our neighbours of the building to be built in the middle of the site. The very long spell of dry weather meant it was a desperate year to introduce new plants, let alone trees, and we hope they will all survive. Malcolm thanks Mike Doolan for his help in watering regularly the new arrivals.
