BRIAN BAKER

Many will be sorry to hear of the death of Brian Baker from cancer, after several years of declining health, which appeared to begin when he became an early casualty of redundancies. Prior to this, Brian had been a wages clerk with a numerical dexterity that remained with him to the end.

Brian was fond of trolleybuses and had a long association with the 1685 Group. He was a regular visitor to the Museum and was always on the lookout for new additions to his exceptional photo collection. Somehow he managed to achieve this while juggling a large carrier bag, a similarly large bottle of pop and a sandwich. It is a great sadness that he missed seeing SUK3 returned to the colours of Wolverhampton Corporation for whose motorbuses he, as a resident of Willenhall, reserved a special vocabulary. Motorbuses had, of course, replaced trolleybuses in many towns but the quality of Wolverhampton's motorbuses particularly offended Brian! He would have taken great pleasure waving his bottle of pop in mock rage at SUK3 while giving vent to his opinion of Wulvrampton's cr***y buses! God bless you, Brian, we will never forget you.
