Fun for the family at The Transport Museum, Wythall
The Transport
Museum, Wythall continues its events programme over the May Day Bank Holiday
Weekend with a “bus load” of family fun.
The Museum, home to one of the largest collections of buses and coaches in the UK, will open its
gates on Sunday 30th April and Monday 1st May between 11am
and 5pm.
Visitors will be
able to take a trip down memory lane and enjoy rides on classic buses, while
children can burn up some energy on the bouncy castle.
Also letting off some steam will be The Elmdon Model Engineering Society, builders and operators
of the Miniature Steam Railway, another family attraction at the Museum in
Chapel Lane, Wythall, with rides available throughout the day.
“ Our Family Days here at the
Museum are always very popular and offer a fun-filled day for all ages.” says
Malcolm Keeley, Collections Manager and a Trustee of the Museum.
A major development programme
costing over £1 million pounds, and largely funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund,
will soon be under way at the Museum. At the heart of the project will be an
additional exhibition hall, The Power Hall, which will feature imaginative
displays, audio visual facilities and assembly areas for groups and school
parties.
