 Accessibility

Parking

Our car park is free and has a number of designated accessible spaces on tarmac.

Guide Dogs

Guide dogs and Hearing dogs are welcome throughout the museum.

Information for wheelchair users

The museum consists of three separate halls, and a separate building housing the shop and cafeteria.

We have been fortunate in gaining the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund to build the third display hall and a new toilets block. These are accessible throughout, and access to the shop and cafeteria is compliant.

On Event Days, we offer bus rides on our exhibits but you will not be surprised to learn that these were not designed for wheelchair access. For those with some mobility, staff will be pleased to advise you which buses have lower steps and easier access.

Carers

We offer free admission to a carer assisting a visitor with disabilities, please make your requirements known at the admission point.

General Information

Mobile phones should work throughout the museum.

We make every effort to ensure that staff, who are all volunteers, throughout the museum are sensitive to the needs of visitors. Please do not hesitate to ask if you require further assistance.
